Problem
Wind turbine blade leading-edge erosion is one of the most significant maintenance challenges facing the wind energy industry. As turbine blades rotate at tip speeds exceeding 300 km/h (186 mph), they are continuously exposed to rain, hail, sand, dust, salt spray, and airborne debris. Over time, these environmental impacts wear away the blade's protective coating, causing surface damage that disrupts its aerodynamic profile. Even minor leading-edge erosion can reduce annual energy production by 2–5%, while severe damage may result in losses exceeding 10%, significantly impacting the profitability of wind farms. If left untreated, erosion can accelerate structural degradation, increase maintenance costs, shorten blade lifespan, and require expensive repairs or premature blade replacement. With thousands of wind turbines approaching critical maintenance intervals worldwide, the industry urgently needs safer, faster, and more cost-effective repair technologies to minimize downtime and maximize turbine performance and reliability. Novara Tech addresses this challenge through automated robotic blade repair and advanced erosion protection solutions that restore blade performance, extend operational life, and reduce the overall cost of wind energy.
Solution
Novara Tech's Robotized Wind Turbine Blade Repair System is an innovative automated solution designed to repair leading-edge erosion and install metallic erosion shields without requiring rope-access technicians. A single robotic climbing unit travels vertically along the wind turbine tower while the turbine's three blades are sequentially rotated into alignment with the tower. As each blade reaches the vertical position, the robot performs surface inspection, preparation, precision repair, and erosion shield installation before the turbine rotates the next blade into position. This automated approach significantly improves worker safety, reduces turbine downtime, lowers maintenance costs, and delivers consistent, high-quality repairs. By extending blade service life and enabling predictive maintenance, Novara Tech helps wind farm operators maximize energy production while reducing the lifecycle cost of offshore and onshore wind assets.
Problem
Millions of batteries in electric cars are reaching their end of life each year.
Each of them weighs about 1,000 pounds, depending on the car. What’s going to happen to this mountains of e-waste? With the rapid growth of the lithium-ion battery (LIBs) market, recycling and re-using end-of-life LIBs to reclaim the critical Li, Co, Ni, and Mn has become an urgent task.
effective recycling Solution
We developed a technology for recycling all types of lithium ion batteries used in electronics, including electromobility. Our techniques make it possible to use upwards of 95% of the components to manufacture new batteries. Advanced, more effective recycling processes for recycling blended Li, Co, Ni, and their direct regeneration for re-use in LIBs
